Adidas / Final Four Showcase - Tournament Cancelled Due To Snowstorm

The nationally renown ADIDAS / Final Four Showcase Tournament, which was to be held in St. Louis, Missouri, December 1st - 3rd, was cancelled due to unusually extreme weather conditions prevalent in the midwest.

Over a foot of snow fall, icy conditions and power outages which affected nearly one million businesses and homes, prompted the cancellation of the premier elite tournament which was to pit the top U17 teams in the nation in St. Louis, Missouri, and the U16 and U18 teams in Chicago, Illinois. This was the site of the NCAA Men's Finals as well, with their games postponed an extra day to accommodate for field improvements.

The FUTSOC USA ENIGMA team, while greatly disappointed, especially after the great effort demonstrated by DOC - Dale Schilly and his prestigious club Metro United of Southern Illinois, is proud to have been one of the few teams selected, and we look forward to participating in their spring premier elite tournament - Metro United Showcase.

Our next step in the progression of events scheduled for 2006 - 2007 takes us to Orlando, Florida, where we will be participating in the top rated Adidas - Disney Showcase Tournament. We will be taking part in the Predator Flight against some of the historically finest teams in the nation - Michigan Wolves, Colorado Storm and the F.C. Delco squads, who are in our Group Stage. This will promise to be a most formidable task, and we look forward to the great experience and difficult challenge which lies ahead.

FUTSOC USA ENIGMA Places 5th at US Club Soccer National Cup V

FUTSOC USA ENIGMA traveled to Greensboro, NC to meet with the other national regional champions from around the country. The stage was set for the great matches to follow, as our strong and tested squad opened with a convincing narrow margin victory of 1-0, over nationally ranked Bridge FC of South Carolina. In a game which saw the boys very nervous, in performing at this elite stage of national youth competition, the end result was fair and gave the squad a level of confidence, which they were going to need the following day in meeting the Montgomery Dragons of Maryland, in the second match of the tournament.

The match was everything it was to be expected, as the team presented a lineup of superb athletes from the Atlantic Northeast region. This was the same team, which on two separate occasions had defeated the USYSA National Champion Casa Mia Bays team. After a first goal scored by our team to open the match, the most worthy opponent answered with a goal of their own to tie the match at 1::1. A most difficult first half ensued, which saw both teams struggle to attack and defend, as they were very evenly matched.

In the second half, FUTSOC USA ENIGMA saw various dangerous scoring opportunities fail, with numerous balls hitting the crossbar and their outstanding keeper making a few very impressive saves. After a continued struggle, a breakaway down our left flank was met with strong resistance at the left lateral defender position, and a very controversial call provided the very tough opponent with a penalty kick, which ultimately gave them the lead and the victory of 2:1.

With all teams in a similar predicament for the final group match the next day, FUTSOC USA ENIGMA was in the least advantageous position, as it needed not only to win against the California state champion team of Arsenal FC, but also to have our first opponent (Bridge FC) defeat our second opponent (Montgomery Dragons). This would prove to be an unlikely task, as the game was playing at a field adjacent to ours, and as the game progressed we couldn't avoid noticing our vanishing hopes, and our ensuing performance became very lackluster and weak, as we lost to Arsenal FC 3::1.

Overall, the tournament was simply a unique experience with elite level youth competition, which allowed us to compete in the highest level national stage against some of the most formidable competition in the country.

We are very honored to have represented our region, our great State of Florida and our own very special South Florida region in this great event. We hope to return with our 2007 version of FUTSOC USA ENIGMA and obtain even better results! Our sincerest appreciation and admiration goes out to our superb athletes, our most supportive and dedicated parents, and to our generous sponsors...who together make all the dreams a possibility!

FUTSOC USA ENIGMA Claims 2006 Score At The Shore - South Championship

The 2006 Score at the Shore - South premier youth soccer tournament, was won by the FUTSOC USA ENIGMA, with a 1-0 victory (in PK's) over the powerful national champion U-16 youth team from Canada - Oakville Blue Star.

After a very successful group play stage, in which we defeated Philadelphia Coppa 89 (4-0) from Pennsylvania, Weston Fury U-16 (2-1) from Florida, and Westchester 1990 (5-1) from New York, we advanced to the Red Flight (top level), and met nationally ranked Metro United of Illinois, which we defeated 2-1. In semi-final action, we were paired with another top 25 nationally ranked opponent from Illinois - Hinsdale United HUSA 89/90, whom we also defeated in a very exciting and fast paced match, by the score of 3(4)-3(2).

The tournament was characterized by exceptional play from the superb defense, strong, controlling play from the talented midfield, outstanding maneuvers and scoring at will from the fleet, accurate forwards,...and of course, brilliant play from our great goalkeeper (who not only shown bright during regulation time, but also stopped nine (9) penalty kicks in the various games where we went to PK's). This was a genuine team effort, and the performances propelled the team into the ranks of the more prominent teams in the country. Congratulations to all!!
