Adidas/Disney College Showcase Tournament

Our FUTSOC USA ENIGMA boys U-18 squad came together in Orlando, Florida to participate among the elite teams of the U.S. Paired up in the most difficult group of all, our boys swept through group play by defeating three nationally ranked opponents in succession. Opening with a 2-1 defeat of three time New Jersey state champion Match Fix Academy the team next met with the storied Atlanta Fire Elite team defeating them handily by the score of 3-0. Needing only one more point to qualify for the semi-finals our proud boys saved the best for the night mach against one of the top USSF Academy teams, the Potomac USSF Academy. with two early goals from our brilliant midfielder Icaro De Oliveira, our highly respected opponent was never able to recover giving up two more goals in the second half and a multitude of other scoring opportunities, to eventually lose by the score of 4-2.

Next up for our team was the Comet team from Texas, which had been playing superbly in their own group. Semi-final match was set for Sunday morning, in what turned out to be a very humid day. FUTSOC jumped ahead on an early goal Nicolas Bermudez Roa who received a brilliantly placed pass from Mark Lyon. After numerous scoring opportunities our opponent struck back in the second half to tie the score 1-1. Losing our fifth starting defender to injury over the course of the tournament, the game went into overtime and we were unable to sustain enough defensive resistance to thwart their second goal and the lead. In an effort to try to tie the game we went on a full attack which opened the door for another goal and our loss. The Texas Comets went on the win the Disney Showcase event with a well deserved in the finals.

Congratulations to the boys for this extraordinary performance and to our opponent who gave up top quality opposition.
