It was the spring of 1996, when approached by a growing multitude of parents, that the first seed was planted for what eventually became the now renowned FUTSOC Summer Soccer Program. The City of Weston still an unincorporated area of West Broward, known simply as Arvida's Weston, had very little in the way of player development, and any other options of this nature, were in infancy stages.

Simultaneous to this, the AYSO had only years earlier started its youth recreational leagues, which were so greatly needed and basically operating out of the various small parks in Weston and in Southwest Ranches. The underlying problem however, was that while the league was building momentum, there was very little in the way of player development to further assist the yearning players. Furthermore, the recreational league was only effective during the months of September through December, leaving area youths without soccer for eight month periods at a time. The next incursion into this area was effected by the YMCA with its great experience and solid program menu. This fine organization would start its own multi-sport program, calling on FUTSOC to undertake the direction of the soccer portion of its summer program - successfully held during the months of June and July at Tequesta Trace Park and then at Regional Park in Weston. These excellent programs proved to be of great success as well...but even more was needed!

Known as the FUTSOC Tech Soccer Training, 33 youths of varying ages and gender, would enroll in twice-weekly, two hour sessions of physical and tactical soccer training and technical skill development. These eight monthly sessions would prove to be quite successful and highly demanded by the participants and parents. As a direct result, the following session was held during the following summer, and enrollment rose to nearly 60 youths. At this time, the need for space was vital, and the Eagle Point Elementary School fields and Park, located in our City of Weston, were utilized. Once again, the program was an instant success and more and more youths became aware and greatly interested in our program...Thus, the birth of a full-fledged summer soccer training program and camp...FUTSOC Summer Soccer Program.

Over the course of the last decade, no other program has been more committed and dedicated to providing this most needed option for youths during the summer. Every year the program has had hundreds of participants partake of the invaluable lessons in technical development, tactical awareness and physical growth, all while enjoying a fun-filled atmosphere that is both structured and relaxed. The program asserts that the lessons learned must be practiced in an environment which is relaxed and exciting, but also, definitive in its objective and quantifiable in its measure. The program has been a total success! The FUTSOC Summer Soccer Program has been operated throughout West Broward during this time, utilizing the facilities at Eagle Point Park, Heron Park, Regional Park, Community Church fields, and Tequesta Trace Park...as well as other locations throughout the county.
